Mid Sussex Constituency Labour Party wishes to thank all who voted for Michael Jones on 5 May to be our new Police and Crime Commissioner. You helped Michael into a highly reputable second place.
And we want to thank him for his efforts during the campaign, which we were delighted to support.
Michael Jones said, “I was pleased that so many Mid Sussex residents voted for me, it gives a strong message to the Tories that people are opposed to their plans to cut the Police and close Police stations. I’ll continue to campaign for residents across Sussex, both at West Sussex county council and the Sussex Police and Crime Panel.”
Undoubtedly Labour is now the main opposition party to the Conservatives in Mid Sussex. And as Michael obtained more second preference votes than anyone it is clear other party’s voters recognise we are a highly credible party with sound policies to deal with issues facing our communities.
This result reinforces the result of last year’s General Election and echoes the fact that local Labour party membership has quadrupled in the last year. We urge all readers to follow Labour activities in Mid Sussex and will welcome new members to a strong and growing local party.
