Your reader, Janice Henwood asks what the £418,498 collected from Burgess Hill car parks is to be used on and I am pleased to provide that information here.
Mid Sussex District has on ongoing programme of maintenance for all its car parks, including those in Burgess Hill. Maintenance includes resurfacing works, repairing potholes, painting and cleaning.
There is also a cost for the management of the car parks – staffing costs, tickets, stationery etc.
Additionally we have an ongoing programme of renewal of, for example, the ticket machines and barriers.
Mrs Henwood may also be pleased to know that the Council will be investing £100,000 from its capital reserves to improve the Cyprus Road car park.
This work is due to start later this year.
