LETTER: Tipping point

Your letters

I’ve been meaning to write to you for some time and Chris Martyr’s letter in last week’s Middy has tipped me over the edge in respect of cyclists.

Most days I travel northwards from Burgess Hill along Valebridge Road and Rocky Lane to Haywards Heath. Very often one encounters a lone cyclist slowly peddling northwards, under the railway bridge and on up the hill.

This usually results in a stream of vehicles following on behind with no way of overtaking because of the number of blind bends.

I thought the Highway Code requires us to travel with due care and attention to other road users - or, perhaps cyclists are exempt!

It would be so easy for them to pause once in a while to allow all the cars, lorries and busses to pass.

Is this too much to ask?
