Why is Fairfax Properties making generous donations to Lindfield community projects?

In 1994, I was working in Fiji. At the time, France was carrying out nuclear tests on Moruroa Atoll in French Polynesia.

In order to improve their understandably negative image, the French Government was making generous financial donations to community projects/initiatives across the southwest Pacific region.

When countries and companies behave in ways which have detrimental impacts on communities, they often try to garner support/acceptance by making generous financial donations to local projects.

In light of this, I am interested to see Fairfax Properties making a number of ‘generous’ donations to community projects in and around Lindfield.

Is this altruism on the part of the company, or a cynical move to ‘soften’ us up before they destroy Haywards Heath Golf Course and the beautiful countryside that surrounds it?
