Captains Annette Hockley and Graham Quantrill decided to support Chestnut Tree House as their club charity of the year. At their charity day on Monday 26th May, the plan was to play seven rinks of triples, but unfortunately the weather had other ideas so activities were moved inside to the Club House.

Starting with a quiz, followed by a lovely cream tea, members were then entertained by some in house budding comedians followed by a series of short films about Chestnut Tree house. Later on in the afternoon there was a grand draw involving the presentation of 26 prizes. The day was rounded off with a barbecue.

Although the event was marred by rain, everyone enjoyed the afternoon and the magnificent sum of £750 was raised. Jayne Todd, Chestnut Tree House Community Fundraiser visited the club to accept the cheque on behalf of the hospice. Said Jayne “I would like to thank everyone at Adastra Bowling Club for their wonderful donation. Our running costs at the hospice are currently almost £3 million per year so support such as this is vital. We are very grateful for their valued support.”
