Crawley professional boxer Ben Jones is not worried that his IBF Intercontinental title fight due to take place on July 18 has been postponed until September or October.

He was due to be top of the bill fighting for the vacant belt at York Hall in Bethnal Green, East London.

But this is not yet possible because he is not high enough on the ranking list.

Regulations say that anyone challenging for this belt must be currently ranked in the top 15 in Europe.

The next list is due out at the end of July and Ben expects it to reflect his win in May against Hungarian Laszlo Fekete.

As a result Jones has had to postpone two public appearances scheduled in July at K2 Crawley and Redhill.

Jones said: “It’s not a setback, it’s an admin thing and nothing to worry about. It just means I have more time to prepare.

“Last year it wouldn’t have happened but boxing is becoming stricter since the FIFA scandal. It’s the same with other sports.”
