Having been shortlisted from an original 260 clubs nominated, Burgess Hill saw off competition from Lancing Football Club and 5 Ways Netball Club, both outstanding in their sporting field, to win the public vote. Only a couple of months ago the club won promotion to Division 2 of the Sussex Cricket League and next year will be playing at the highest level ever in their history.

In recent years the club has worked to significantly improve their facilities and now aim to work with the local Councils to upgrade their Pavilion and cricket outfield.

The recognition was a result of significant success in and out of competition, development of participation in the Community, establishing education and community links, being fully inclusive, catering for people from all backgrounds and benefitting the locality in an exceptional way.

A club spokesman said: "We look forward to the 2019 season and continued progress for the club on and off the pitch."
