Perhaps it was the lure of running in such a unique race, the promise of good weather or the potential visit to the chip shop after the race that encouraged 49 club members to turn out for this 5 mile run along the sand. The club often do well at this race and were pleased to finish 4th for the day, only a 3 of points short of maximum. Paul Sargent finished in 6th place with a superb time of 28:50. Jon Boxall continued his seemingly limitless rise in form finishing with a time of 30:26 after a close race with Jason Collett (30:45). Catherine Kempton was pleased to lead the ladies home with a fantastic time of 39:04 with Emma Buckland not far behind in 39:14.

On Saturday several club members took on the London to Brighton trail run. An ultra marathon consisting of 100km, an epic undertaking. Mark Nicholls was the first BHR to finish with a cracking time of 11:05:53 and 7th place overall. Susan Lyle and Simon Thompson also completed it in brilliant times of 13:29:43 and 21:35:33 respectively.

On Sunday the ultra-marathon fun continued as Jay Wadey was pleased to complete his first ultra marathon, the 50km ‘Weald Challenge’ in 7:35:45. Regular long distance runners Sharona Harrington (5:31:41), Andrew Murrell,(5:34:02), Jan Lavis (5:34:50), Nick Dawson (6:45:29) and Neil Dawson (6:49:72) also completed the distance. Jon Boxall completed the corresponding Half Marathon in 1:58:24 (despite a significant accidental detour) along with Dan Foord in 2:02:54 and Jon Herbet in 2:07:19

For fans of a shorter, faster distance there was the Westminster Mile in London this weekend. A rare chance to push the pace to the limit and this appealed to Dave Oldfield who clocked a speedy 6:11 and Steve Bird who did the family race with his daughter in 11:36.

Finally, on Monday BHR were represented at the Lindfield Village 5k and 10k. Dave Oldfield opted for the 5k whilst Leigh Smith, Hannah Watkins, Annette Maynard, Kelly Tomsett and James Sorbie completed the 10k.
