Burgess Hill Runners take part in events all over the South East

Another very busy weekend for Burgess Hill Runners saw members taking part in events all over the South East.

The Farnham Pilgrim Marathon and Half Marathon, organised by the Rotary Club of Farnham Weyside takes place over the North Downs and Pilgrims way and is mostly offroad and quite hilly, but always brilliantly organised and the route is very scenic.

Paul Sargent came an excellent 8th place in a very strong field in the full 26.2 mile event in 3hrs 18min 08sec and also secured a nice prize for being second in his age category, and was supported by Jon Boxall (4.09.23), Jon Herbert (4.27.01), Karen Harvey (5.01.14), Nick Dawson (5.10.16), Hannah Brett (5.22.57) and Jon Lavis (6.32.57).

Completing the half marathon were Neil Dawson (2.01.48) and Caz Wadey (2.41.20). Over 2,500 runners took part in the inaugural Reigate Half Marathon, and Burgess Hill Runners were well represented with Lee Crow finishing in 1hr 53 min 26 seconds, Marie Carey 2.08.52, Carole Mills an excellent PB in 2.10.09 and Jacqueline Longbone 2.41.45.

James Sorbie had a superb run in the East Grinstead 10k trail race organised by East Grinstead Athletic Club, securing 12th place in 42.29, along with Hannah Watkins who was delighted with her time of 59.00.

Finally, Oliver Dewdney competed in the Richmond Half marathon, finishing in an excellent 1.59.24. For details of the club and it’s training sessions (to suit all abilities) visit www.bhrunners.co.uk
