Burgess Hill Runners turn out in force to tackle the unforgiving Beachy Head Marathon

A reputation for being one of the hardest marathons in the UK would often deter even the most hardcore of runners, but on Saturday the strong stomached, blue army of Burgess Hill Runners turned out in force to tackle the unforgiving Beachy Head Marathon.

Neil Grigg was the first intrepid club member to finish with an impressive 3:58:35 on the clock. He was followed by Emma Goodhead (4:40:35), Andy Sayers (4:42:20), Martin Skeats (4:41:54), Emma Buckland (4:48:57), Liz Carter (4:48:58), Debbie Saint (4:59:39), Lee Crow (5:03:17), John Palmer (5:19:36), Claire Tucknott (5:24:53), Diane Delderfield (5:36:12), Paul Russell (5:49:13), Philippe Ecaille (5:55:38), Tony Radmall (6:48:48), Jon Lavis (6:49:20) and Janet Clapton (7:20:46). Helen Pratt completed the 10k in 1:13:30.

Emma Leeson was lucky enough to meet athletics legend Jo Pavey at the Great South Run in Portsmouth. Emma finished in a superb time of 1:24:29. Meanwhile Mark Nicholls ran a mind blowing 3:18:02 at the Bath Marathon.
