The team won their first match against East-Region 3-1 and they then went on to play West Midlands in the group stages, winning that one 4-0.

That took the team into the semi-finals, where they faced the South-West Region, where they emerged 3-1 winners.

The final was a real challenge, playing against another unbeaten team, the North-West.

The London and SE No 4 went on and won 3-0 to give them a flying start but the No3 was edged out 3-1 despiteputting in a great effort.

The No 1s were on next and with the North West boasting an England player, it was always going to be a struggle.

A 3-0 scoreline left captain Malik needing to win the final rubber 3-0 to give his team the coveted team title.

The Mid Sussex youngster was certainly up to the challenge and seemed to revel in the pressure as he romped home 11-3, 11-5, 11-2.

Also performing well in the regional team championships was Perry’s older brother Curtis, who won all his matches to help the under 15 team finish second.

And nine-year-old Torrie Malik was also in action as she helped the regional girls under 13 team finish fourth.

The London and South East Regional Squash Team also came out on top overall in the Natinoal Regional Team Squash Championships.
