Player to watch: Dan Strange said: “Tom Trowbridge - Tom had a great year with the bat last season and I feel he will only do better this year.

Hopes for 2016 season: Skipper Dan Strange said: “Looking at the team we have this year there’s no reason why we can’t fight to go up. There’s some strong teams this year, so we’ve got to work hard.”

How will the 2017 restructure affect the 2016 season: To be honest I don’t think it will. There are so many unknowns in terms of opposition quality that all we can do is concentrate on our own game and winning as many games of cricket as we can.

The Second XI have a real target to get promoted to Division 2 because if they don’t they will be removed from the County League as part of the restructure and having finished 2nd last season this is a realist target, but for the First XI what will be will be. The aim has to be promotion, regardless of restructure, it would have been the aim anyway!
