Having won the toss away at Glynde & Beddingham the Ansty skipper had no hesitation in inviting the home side to bat first.

The afternoon was hot and the pitch had a touch of green.

Chris Stanyard and Archie Burrows opened the innings but both fell with the score on six. Joe Adams and Alex Thornhill added sixty runs for the third wicket when Adams fell to Sam Adams for 45. Stuart Mouland went a few balls later, out for a duck, caught behind by Ben Towler off the bowling of Will Wright. Matthew Blunt followed on the same score, and half the side was out for 71.

Wickets continued to fall with Ansty captain Glenn Anson taking three of these and Glynde were all out for 104. Sam Adams took 5-38 off 18 overs.

After tea Tom Woodhall and James Whybrow saw the score to 17 before Whybrow was caught off Dale Tranter for 7. Ed Coombs struck an entertaining 27 but was well caught at square off Tranter. Woodhall was LBW without any further run being added to the score. Luke Forster was joined at the crease by Richard Smith and it was the latter who increased the run rate as an ominous dark sky developed from the south. Smith hit 43 not out including four 6s and three 4s to see the visitors to their win that has put them on top of the league.
