Ansty win their first ever T20 match

Following their 1st XI defeat on Saturday, Ansty hosted Billingshurst in the Gray Nichols Cup the following day.

Facing Division 2 Billingshurst, in Ansty’s first ever T20 match, the visitors were asked to bat by skipper Luke Forster and were soon in trouble losing their fist wicket with just 3 runs on the board.

The second wicket fell on 7 followed by two wickets on 16 and the fifth on 18. Rob Woodman scored 13 and number ten Alex Lowther top scored with 16 not out. Billingshurst were all out in 18.2 overs for 73. Youngster Henry Smethurst took 4-18 in his four overs for the home side.

Ansty began their reply with Leo Anderson and James Whybrow but the latter departed for a duck with the score on 17. Jon Young then joined Anderson but also lost his wicket scoring 6 runs. Sam Adams joined Anderson and this pair accelerated the scoring to see Ansty home by 8 wickets in 7.4 overs. Anderson finished 42 not out and Adams 18 not out.
