Ansty's poor run continues as they are dismissed for 84 chasing 101

Ansty's poor run of success continued at Crawley Eagles despite reducing Eagles to 101 all out.

Jack Palser (4-29) and Jethro Menzies (4-37) bowled well with just three Crawley Eagles batsmen in double figures. Usman Bashir top scored with 38 with Jibran Khan (15) and Atif Ali (14no) the other two.

The top score in Ansty’s reply was 13 scored by both Jethro Menzies and Jack Palser. With six wickets down Ansty were exactly at the same score, 54-6, as their opponents were but could not manage to reach the winning target being bowled out for 84.

2nd XI

The 2nd XI match saw a determined stand of 61 by young Tom Peberdy (48no) and Morgan Lapina-Amarelle (25)as the home side chased 254 to win.

This pair lifted the Ansty spirits as Seaford struggled to separate them. After Lapina-Amarelle departed a draw was made certain by Peberdy and Shaun Janman (1no). Earlier the home side contained Seaford for the first 10 overs only allowing 16 runs to be scored, however opener Patrick McCaughan and Ben Brown put on 137 for the 2nd wicket that allowed the visitors to declare at 253-5.

3rd XI

A much younger than normal 3rd XI were well beaten by Streat & Westmeston at Streat.

Batting first, Ansty scored 107 with Jack Bilbruck top scoring with 43, supported by 14 from Will Carr and 13 from Dom Mamoany.

This was never going to be enough and with Alex Kirkbride scoring 41no and Nigel Butler 30 the home side cruised to a win by 8 wickets.

4th XI

The 4th XI team was in contrast was probably the oldest average age team put out by the club. However against a younger East Grinstead side the home team managed to win by 3 wickets.

Set 216 to win, Ken Chapman scored 60 with Steve Jarvis (38), Chris Layton (35), Phil Herbert (25) and Rob Targett (21) all chipping in to reach the target needed. An aggressive 87 was scored by Sudaresan Ashok and Richard Goodwin (30) for the visitors as they reached 215 all out. For Ansty Rob Targett took 5-55
