Eastbourne beat Roffey by 35 runs on Saturday to set up a Group A1/A2 final with East Grinstead on Saturday.

And Twine’s side will go into the final as favourites after being unbeaten in the competition and beating Saturday’s opponents already in the group stage.

But Twine, who is standing in for normal skipper Jacob Smith, says they will take it as any other game.

He said: “I don’t think we can go into the game thinking that we are favourites. We will just play it like any other game and another opportunity to show the league what we are capable of.

“Confidence is high in the team at the moment, but we know that East Grinstead won’t be pushed over easily. We must perform our best if we want to finish as champions.”

Scott Lenham again starred for Eastbourne, hitting 52 as they totalled 159-8 from their 40 overs.

And it was Twine who led by example with the ball as he took 4-15 as Roffey were bowled out for 125. Archie Lenham picthed in with 2-16.

Twine said: “From a personal point of view it’s always nice to contribute to a win.

“I was very happy with how the team dealt with the hard conditions and the relentless accuracy of Roffey’s bowling to post a competitive score.”

Eastbourne face East Grinstead in the final on Saturday, 12.30 start, at Mayfield.
