Half century from Jackbut Cuckfield have too much power for Hill

Cuckfield and Haywards Heath made progress in the Twenty/20 Cup on Sunday when Keymer & Hassocks, Lindfield, Burgess Hill and St James’s all fell by the wayside.

Cuckfield were too strong for Burgess Hill despite another good knock by Jack Simpson. He made 55 of his side’s 117-9 before Cuckfield completed a five-wicket win.

Opener Sam Reading was the sixth and last man out for 59, brilliantly caught by young Connal Bartlett, as Heath set a target of 148-6. Jonny Phelps made 23, Charlie Gold 22 and 23 came in wides.

Andy Westgate took 2-22 and Patrick Corrigan bowled without any luck for 0-25 in his four overs.

Tom Fairfax then followed up his 2-37 with 51 and added 57 for the second wicket with Joe Isted (21) but his side were always behind the clock as they finished on 127-8. Callum Smith took 3-40.

Danny Alderman plundered an unbeaten 103 as Three Bridges (164-3) comfortably accounted for Lindfield (121-9), while Bexhill’s 162-8 was just enough against St James’s Montefiore despite 63 from Anthony Alexander.
