Haywards Heath Cricket Club sign Sussex and former England and Surrey fast bowler Stuart Meaker in 'real coup for the club'

Haywards Heath Cricket club have signed former England bowler Stuart Meaker for the 2021 Sussex Cricket League season.

The club are embarking on their first season in the Premier Division following their promotion in 2019.

And they announced the news on their social media channels.

They said: "We are delighted to announce the signing of Sussex CCC fast bowler Stuart Meaker for our 2021 The 1st Central Sussex Cricket League campaign.

"Meaker who played 2 ODIs and 2 T20Is for England, joined Sussex CCC in early 2020 from Surrey CCC where he spent 12 years and will play for the Haywards Heath in the Premier Division when his county commitments allow him.

"Stuart will also join our junior coaching setup providing 121 and group sessions exclusively to HHCC juniors throughout the summer.

"The experienced Meaker's arrival is a real coup for the club and we’re really excited to welcoming one of the country’s quickest bowlers to Clair Park."

The club have also raised £3,000 by members virtually walking from Land's End to John 'Groats. The club tweeted: "The team have covered over 2,500 miles this month and are on their way back to John O'Groats for a second time! We have raised just over £3,000 which is fantastic for our charities so thank you everyone who has donated.
