Smith said: “We are looking forward to Mayfield this week and hopefully no injuries in the warm up, we have actually joked me may take 12 with us this week.

“It will be nice to sign of with a win and then we have a few more friendlies following that we hope to enjoy.”

Despite the defeats in the shortened competition, Smith believes his side has shown promise.

He said: “We all wanted to play some competition cricket and we have had that but it doesn’t quite feel the same.

“We have had four games in which we got one hiding but the other three have all been close and could easily have had a couple of wins.

“We have picked up injuries in the past two weeks in the warm ups so it’s been a bit of a drama.”

Heath were looking forward to their first season in the Premier Division before Covid-19 intervened.

He said: “We are looking forward to being back to full strength and excited for hopefully a normal season next year.

“We know the Premier will be tough and we have seen in the past few weeks some of the quality we will face next year but we have also shown that we will be more than competitive.”
