Nick Wright was the pick of the Hill bowlers with 2-46 and then impressed with the bat, making 48 in a reply of 142.

James took 4-48 and was well supported by skipper JJ Davies, Neil Machin and Jack Wells, who all collected two wickets apiece.

A long and hot trip down to the coast proved well worth it for Saints’ 2nd XI as stand-in skipper Paul Watson called correctly and asked Aldwick to bat first.

They were then bowled out for 75 in the 21st over as Ollie Brookes claimed 4-16 in seven overs and was well supported by the Nichol’s brothers, Shaun (1-23) and Daniel (3-12).

There were seven ducks as only Matt Robinson held up Saints with a battling 45 before Jon Kingcome (2-15) cleaned up the tail.

Iain Murray partnered by Ray Cully set about chasing down the meagre total but on 29 Murray (8) just failed to clear the fielder.

Watson (23no) then joined Cully (30) and moved the score to 56 before Stuart Murray (9no) came in to finish the job.

They acheved it by six wickets after putting the hosts into bat and restricting them 95-8.

Spinners Tom Cooper and Jack Hobby bowled accurately and economically, while Jack Cooper took another two wickets and once again broke a bail.

Saints tinkered with the batting order to give last week’s heroes a bat at the top of the order but Ben Noble and Archie Kirk scored only one run between them.
