The wicket was a breakthrough for Sussex and heralded another soon after when Samit Patel was caught and bowled by Robinson for 9.

This was Robinson’s fourth wicket of the match out of five to have fallen so far, making him Sussex’s stand-out bowler with figures of 4-46 off 17 overs.

Jamie Taylor continued to push the score on, scoring his 50 off 119 balls in 172 minutes and featuring five boundaries.

The highlight of his innings was a six hit off Matt Hobden which helped push the score on to 222-5 at tea.
