Keymer and Hassocks reach semi-finals of Intersport of Lewes Cup

Keymer and Hassocks Cricket Club have moved through to the semi-finals of the East Sussex league Intersport of Lewes Cup thanks to a comprehensive victory away to Lewes St Michaels on Saturday.

Contributions from the middle order made sure of a good total with Keymer finishing their 40 overs on 239-6.

In reply Lewes St Michaels had no answer to the Keymer bowling attack. With wickets spread throughout the bowlers including 3 wickets a piece for Michael Poole and youngster Ronan Pithie, bowling the hosts out for just 79.

Elsewhere at Adastra, Keymer 2s picked up a good early season friendly win against Palmers CC second eleven. Batting first the hosts notched up 153-5 thanks to a solid 41 from Simon Mcniff. This was followed up by an impressive performance with the ball as Keymer dismissed the visitors for 91, youngster Alex Bates picking up 4 wickets for 5 runs.

Unfortunately three wins from three wasn’t meant to be as Keymer 3s fell to defeat in a fixture against Streat & Westmeston 2s. Fielding a young side Keymer were put to the sword by Streat’s batsman who racked up 190 all out. Good contributions with the ball from Sam Szalkai (2-28), David Pithie (3-3) and Shay Leahy (3-10). In reply it was only Ed Hollingdale (52) who broke the back of the Streat innings with Keymer eventually being dismissed for 131. A very promising performance from the numerous youngsters on show was encouraging.
