On a rain-affected day Lindfield having lost the toss, batted first and soon lost opener Charlie Weir (duck).

Fellow opener Toby Shepperson (43*) and Apoorv Wankhede (28) then put on 49 runs before Wankhede was caught behind off the bowling of Matt Geffen (1-22).

Then Sajeer Nizam (six), after only facing two balls, decided to walk down the wicket to a ball from Ajit Sambhi (1-11) which was neatly played on to his wicket.

This left Lindfield on 61-3 after 13 overs with dark clouds looming in the west.

Shepperson was then joined by skipper Simon Shivnarain (26*), who together shared a unbroken partnership of 53 before rain stopped play.

Lindfield at that stage were only 114-3 after 28 overs, due to the tight Chichester bowling from Geffen, Martin Ford (1-15), Andrew Crookham (0-23) and Sambhi.

The Lindfield innings did not resume because of time lost and tea taken, so, before Chichester began their reply, the limited overs Duckworth Lewis calculation was used.

This meant 163 was the required winning score for Chi, from 28 overs should no further delays occur.

From the start of the Chi innings, the theme was to attack the Lindfield bowling, especially the bad ball, and after ten overs the score was 60-2.

Early on Lindfield skipper Shivnarain had to be subbed due to an injury, which meant that his bowling was missed.

Despite tight bowling from Wankhede (1-25) and Harry Chaudhury (1-28), runs from Matt Bennison (24), Mike Smith (38) and Ed McCarthy (28*) together with Matt Sharp (19*) saw
