Batting first, the visitors got off to a cracking start with Andy Stillwell (50) and Tom Hinley (37) setting the tone. Shane Peach continued the momentum with a well-made 36, which with the help of extras contributing 26, allowed Lindfield to make 192-7 off their 40 overs.

In reply, the hosts got off to the worse possible start as Scott Pedley (2 for 22) and Thanvi Choudhury (2 for 36) reduced Brighton and Hove to 59 for 6. Only Revathi Kumar Kanur with an unbeaten 40 showed much application further down the order, and Lindfield got the final wicket with four overs to spare and a win by 52 runs.

This Mid-Sussex derby produced the game of the weekend with Lindfield clinging on to their hopes of reaching the knock-out stages of the August Cup after a one wicket win over their old rivals with 2 balls to spare.

Winning the toss, the hosts chose to field on a good wicket which offered a bit of bounce thanks to some early rain. Tom Hay excelled at the top of the order with a well-made 46, supported by Josh Downey (33) and Tommy Watson (26). Asha Hinley proved the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 53 as Cuckfield reached 170 in their 40 overs.

Rob Minter and James Colvin got the Lindfield off to a good start, reaching 54 for the first wicket, but then wickets began to fall regularly. Adam Wright provided some momentum in the middle of the innings with a typical swashbuckling 28, but Matt Slinger (3 for 34) and Rodney Candfield (2 for 16) ensured the hosts needed 27 with just one wicket remaining.

Enter Luke Sowton who compiled an unbeaten 37 getting Lindfield into the position of needing six runs off the last over. It was left to Asha Hinley to hit the winning runs with two balls to spare and leaving the home side 3rd in the table going into the last round of games next week.

Lindfield's fourth string maintained their unbeaten season and continued to top the table thanks to a three wicket win against Ardingly at Hickman's Lane. The visitors won the toss and elected to bat, but never really managed to stamp their authority on the innings. Five of their batsmen made double figures but failed to go to make a big one, as Lindfield's bowlers shared the spoils. Monty Brown proved the pick of the bunch with 2 for 18 as six Lindfield bowlers picked up scalps.

In response, Lindfield struggled initially, but Leon Kaye (39) and David Lea (34) steadied the ship. As wickets fell in batches, skipper Adrian Whear held his nerve to see the hosts over the line with 14 overs to spare.
