Maximum-point victories for top two Nomads and Horsham and Three Bridges claim a welcome win over Roffey

Horsham consolidated their second place with a comfortable victory against a below strength Cuckfield side. Chichester have improved their placing following an eight-wicket home win against Worthing. Brighton and Hove are now bottom following their six-wicket home defeat by Hastings with Three Bridges just above them despite a home 58-run win against Roffey.

East Grinstead tumbled to 139 all out at Fulking against Preston Nomads but it could have been worse, at one time they were 19-5 before Tim Davey (57) and Nathan Bailey (37) helped them to a more respectful total as Carl Simon took 5-35.

In reply Nomads cruised to 140-4 from 33.5 overs with 45 from Rob Wakeford, 39 from Hugh Finzel and 44 not out from Patrick Spencer.

It proved tough at Horsham for Cuckfield, who included seven players under-19 and they were dismissed for just 127 as leg-spinner Michael Munday, the League’s leading wicket-taker, took 6-20. In reply the home side eased to 129-3 as John Burroughs made 41 not out and Sam Attfield 34.

Worthing were put in by Chichester at Priory Park and crashed to 108 all out as Matt Geffen took 3-21 and Richard Browning 3-29, top scorer for the visitors was Luke Vinter with just 24.

Aussie Ashton Turner then hit 51 not out and Mark Bamford made 35 to steer their side home at 111-2.

Three Bridges enjoyed a welcome victory at home to Roffey after being put in, making 191-9 declared of which skipper Danny Alderman made 45 as George Fleming took 5-66.

In reply Roffey were dismissed for 133 with Craig Williams their top scorer, he made 32.

For Bridges George Garton took 3-24 and Michael Rose 2-17.

Brighton and Hove found runs hard to come by at home to Hastings after deciding to bat first. They were bowled out for 126 as John Morgan took 3-44 and Elliott Hooper 4-2.

Hastings moved to victory at 127-4 with 43 from Tom Gillespie and 43 not out from Aussie David Lowery, all four wickets fell to Chris Atherton who took 4-42.

Division Two: The top three clubs in Division Two all won to keep their promotion hopes alive.

Leaders Eastbourne won by three wickets at Middleton, Bexhill enjoyed a narrow victory in a low-scoring clash at Pulborough, who are bottom without a win and just behind Glynde, who went down by two wickets at Findon. The bottom two have yet to win this season.

The most exciting game was at Goring, who consolidated their second place with a one-run win against Crowhurst Park.

Middleton decided to bat at home to leaders Eastbourne and were dismissed for 159, of which Pat Colvin made 39.

Skipper Mark Tomsett then led Eastbourne to victory. He made 92 not out in a total of 163-7 and shared a match-winning stand with Richard Smith to take his side home. Brandon Hanley took 5-51 for the home side.

There was an amazing finish at Goring after the home side had been dismissed for 141 after being put in by Crowhurst Park. In that total Ellis Woolley hit 93 as Paul Brookes took 6 for 53.

Crowhurst Park looked set for victory but their last six wickets fell for just nine runs and Matt Keen finished off the innings with a hat-trick as they were dismissed for 140, a run short of the home side’s total.

Dale Payne made 31, Brad Payne and Clive Tong 32 each and Keen returned figures of 5-31 including that hat-trick.

Bexhill were bowled out for 122 at Pulborough as newcomer Keshemal Waingankar took 7-42 on his debut, Jonthan Haffenden with 47 was top scorer for the visitors.

Pulborough were then sent crashing to 111 all out in 36.5 overs as Andrew Williams took 5-45 and Joe Cox 5-44.

Glynde are also still looking for their first win and Findon are mounting a promotion challenge after a Findon home victory by two wickets.

Glynde were dismissed for 144 with Archie Burrows making 39 and Dominic Shepheard 36, for the home side Harry Metters took 4-39.

In reply Findon reached their target at 145-8 from 37.5 overs with Dominic Shepheard taking 5-44.

The remaining game provided the only draw of the day in the top two divisions as St.James’s made 202-8 dec. after being put in by Ifield. In that total Michael Murray hit 76 as Clayton Caltsounis took 3-48 and Luke Morris 3-56.

In reply Ifield collapsed to 42-6 but 57 not out from Pratik Patel saw them hold out at 159-9 at stumps.

Division 3 (West): Billingshurst and Stirlands have opened up a gap at the top of Division 3 West after both recorded their seventh win out of eight. The two sides meet next week at the end of the first half of fixtures.

Billingshurst enjoyed a comfortable win at home to Bognor Regis with Dhanuska Mitipolaarachchi claiming 6-27 as Bognor made 151 all out.

Luke Seward resisted with 63 while Sam Goodway made an unbeaten 41 in the seven-wicket win.

Stirlands made it seven on the trot at Henfield with Sean Heather and Will Gubbins once again amongst the runs. Heather made 132 and Gubbins an unbeaten 56 as Stirlands posted 228-2 after being asked to bat.

Jack Parsons made 57 but 4-61 from Struan Cameron ensured that Henfield fell well short on 142.

Steyning are 42 points behind Stirlands in third after a tight draw with Wisborough Green. Gary Hunt hit 63 as Steyning reached 191-7 and in reply Green finished just six short but with nine wickets down. Ramesh Subasinghe took 6-29.

Slinfold won at Arundel by six wickets to keep the home side at the foot of the table. Guy Thorne took 4-37 and Arundel’s 136 proved to be nowhere near enough with Andy Parsons blasting an undefeated 103 in taking Slinfold to victory.

Having led the table earlier in the season Pagham have slipped down to fourth as Crawley Eagles posted 252-8 after being asked to bat first.

Fazlan Nilamdeen led the way with 101 while, Nabib Rahman took 4-72. Adil Mustafa took 4-39 as Pagham stuttered to a draw at 154-7.

Division 3 (East): Lindfield remain top of Division 3 East after a tense low-scoring game at Hellingly saw them get home by three wickets.

Hellingly took 44 overs to reach 84 all out. Isaac Leckie top-scoring with 27 while Matt Wilson-Yelvedon claimed 2-5 in four overs.

Lindfield were then reduced to 28-6 with young paceman Ben Twine taking 4-11 but 44 not out from Nathan Bell saw them through.

Burgess Hill moved up to second after a six-wicket win at home to Keymer & Hassocks. Jack Simpson hit 46 with the bat and took 4-70 in 19.3 overs as Keymer posted 180. This proved to be insufficient despite 50 from Michael Johnson.

Haywards Heath are level on points with Burgess Hill after a four-wicket victory over struggling Lewes Priory. Jacob Lee made 49 and Dan Strange took 3-21 as Priory set their visitors 174 to win.

Having taken six wickets last week Jethro Menzies smashed 82 as Heath completed the win. Simon Birch took 3-29 for Priory.

Rottingdean had the better of a draw with Crawley who were indebted to Rhett Bridgens for helping to stave off defeat.

Bridgens bagged 6-61 in Rottingdean’s 195 along with 3-23 from Harry Choudhary. Bridgens then made 42 as Crawley held on at 151-8. Junayed Khan taking 4-25.
