Mike’s bowling can’t saveSaints but Billy betterrewarded for his efforts

Mike Edmonds did his best with 5-55 but failed to defend a modest total of 165-9 as St James’s lost by four wickets in a Division 2 game at Ditchling.

Tayyab Mahmood (46) and Adam Davies (45) took the batting honours for Saints as Toby Kingsbury (5-41) and James Iago (3-6) did the damage.

The Findon batting was led by Andy Crossland (49), Jack Metters (37) and Kingsbury (31no).

Goring went top of the division as they took advantage of Eastbourne slipping to a first defeat of the season.

Eastbourne lost to Bexhill, while Goring were 75-run victors at home to Ifield.

Crowhurst Park won by a massive 231 runs at Pulborough and in the other match, Glynde drew at Middleton after 516 runs came for the loss of only 11 wickets.

In Division 1 of the 2nd XI championship, Jason Robinson hit 88 as Preston Nomads drew with Brighton, while Haywards Heath crashed to a six-wicket defeat against Horsham, for whom Andrew Hillman made an unbeaten 63.

In Division 2 Russell Piper (57) was an unlucky loser for St James’s but Cuckfield’s Billy Harris (120) and Jeremy Crampton (66) were betterrewarded for their efforts.
