Report of Sussex CCC AGM and Board Elections

The Club announced the results of the Board elections with a very narrow margin between the four candidates who stood for three positions. Dick Holste and Bob Warren were both re-elected to the board, whilst Jon Filby was elected to the board for the first time. John Abbott was not re-elected after six years’ service.

Jon Filby has been a Sussex supporter and member since 1971. He is currently secretary to both Sussex Cricket charities and will bring professional senior people management knowledge to the Boardroom with his background and expertise in recruitment and people development.

The Duke of Richmond and Bryan Bedson were also re-elected at the AGM as Patron and President respectively for a further year. Former Chairman Don Trangmar was elected a Vice-President of the Club.

The 2011 accounts were approved and the Members in attendance had the opportunity to ask questions of the Board, Chief Executive Dave Brooks and Professional Cricket Manager, Mark Robinson.

Chairman Jim May said, “Everyone at the Club would like to thank John Abbott for his contribution to Sussex Cricket during his time on the board. He played a major role as the Club has transitioned to being run on a more professional basis. John has been Chair of our HR Committee for the last four years and with his senior law enforcement background gave us very useful advice in areas like risk management and security matters.

“I would like to welcome Jon Filby to the board. Jon is already heavily involved with the Club with his work with both the Sussex Cricket World and Sussex Cricket in the Community Trust.

“We are very excited about the new season both on and off the pitch. With the fantastic new ground development complete we have excellent facilities to be proud of whilst on the pitch we continue to compete at the top level across all three formats.”
