Unbeaten start to the season for Warden Park

Warden Park’s year 7 cricket team have maintained an unbeaten start to the 2014 cricket season in some style.

They have already reached the quarter final of the Sussex County Cup and meet Hailsham for a place in the semi-final.

Competition for places has been extremely strong with 14 players used overall to cover injuries and absences. All boys that have been picked to play have put in string performances.

In cup matches this season, they have defeated Shoreham and Rydon to reach the quarter final stage. Both matches were comfortably won by the team and have the right blend of attacking batting players and a particularly strong bowling attack. In the recent match vs Rydon, Warden Park scored 97 runs with Leon Cragg top scoring with 39. Rydon reached 49 in reply.

In friendly match’s vs Brighton College and Brighton College prep, they have performed even better results. In both matches they scored above 120 and bowled the opposition for under 50.

With confidence in the squad they now look forward to the quarter final and progressing further.
