Albion 3-1 Bolton

An unfortunate David Lopez own goal had given the visitors the lead on the half hour mark before the Seagulls struck a trio of goals within a five minute period during the second half.

Jay Spearing put the ball in his own net to level the game before Inigo Calderon and Will Buckley scored in quick succession to claim all three points for Oscar Garcia’s men.

Tomasz Kuszczak continued his fine form with a string of excellent saves, the first of which was to deny David Ngog from close range after a deflection off referee Mike Jones played the striker through.

However the Poland international was unable to prevent a scrappy piece of play deep inside his penalty area which resulted in the ball creeping over the line via a touch from Lopez.

Albion responded brightly though, and a lively Kazenga LuaLua came close to equalising when his fizzed effort cracked the underside of the crossbar, but Dougie Freedman’s side held the lead at the interval.

The Seagulls heaped pressure on their opponents after the break and it wasn’t long until they were on level terms as LuaLua’s whipped cross flicked off the head of a hapless Spearing and flew past Adam Bogdan between the Trotters’ sticks.

Things got worse for Freedman’s men as a neat move on the right flank ended with Buckley picking out right-back Calderon who swept the ball into the bottom corner.

There was nowhere to hide for the former Palace man as the mocking rained down on him from the home fans, and the final nail in the coffin was when Buckley’s clever piece of skill allowed him to cut inside and drive his shot past Bogdan.

The goal marked the first time Albion had come from behind to win a game since the opening day win against Doncaster in the 2011/12 season.
