Burgess Hill Town travel to Hendon this Saturday and manager Ian Chapman expects another tough fixture despite their current position in the table.
Whilst the Hillians sit in the middle of the table, Hendon currently sit in 19th place and it’s been clear to see this season that the higher standard of football in the Ryman Premier Division compared with Ryman South from all the teams in this tough league.
It’s vital we don’t lose these youngsters unless they are going upwardsIan Chapman
Chapman said “At the start of the season everybody I spoke to said Hendon are a really decent side, so even though they haven’t had a great start we know we must be at our best to get a positive result.”
Joe Keehan who came off early in last Saturday’s draw with Billericay Town is rated at 50/50 for the match, but Will Miles who also went off early should be fine.
“The rest of the squad are fit and available.
Chapman also spoke this week about the young players currently on contract at the Green Elephants Stadium.
“A massive positive for our Club is the real quality of young players we have at the club on contract.
“It’s vital we don’t lose these youngsters unless they are going upwards.
“We now have Dan Perry, Dan Pearse, Will Miles, Lee Harding and more recently Guy Bolton.
“He’s another player who I feel will take the club forward, but we just have to make sure we pitch him in at the right time.”
Last Saturday saw Hill draw 1-1 with Billericay Town as Chris Smith hit his 10th goal of the season.
The striker who joined the Club in the summer from South Park said “I’m really enjoying it at the moment, I’ve had a good run of games. It’s not all about scoring but you enjoy it a lot more when you are scoring especially as a forward”.
“It was definitely a point gained, they had the ball the majority of the game, but we had a couple of chances.
“I had a couple of chances and Dan Pearse hit the bar late on but it was definitely a point gained.”
