Ardingly’s 1st XI are through to the Boodles Independent Schools FA Cup Final after beating Bradfield College 3-1 in a pulsating encounter on Thursday 5th February.
Bradfield started strongly, keeping possession well in the first fifteen minutes, but were unable to break down a resolute Ardingly defence, before Ardingly created two excellent chances, one of which was saved off the line by a retreating home player.
Bradfield then came back and missed an excellent chance to put the home side one up, before Chris Holman struck a left footed shot into the corner to make it 1-0 to Ardingly at half time. Ardingly started the second half well, and, after a well worked corner routine, Holman struck a venomous drive into the top corner to double Ardingly’s lead.
The match then swayed from end to end, with both sides having chances, before Conor Meegan rounded the goalkeeper to make it 3-0 after a well worked move. Bradfield scored a consolation goal in the last seconds of the match, but Ardingly ran out 3-1 winners.
Ardingly now go on to face Hampton in the final on Monday 9th March, to be played at MK Dons FC. This will be the second final that Ardingly will play in the next few weeks, having already got through to the Elgin League Cup final against Bradfield on Wednesday 25th February.
