Banton: We could have won at Doncaster

It had seemed a tough place to go to, playing in front of a large stadium against a team looking for its first win of the season.

The Crawley midfielder told the club’s website: “Before the game I think we would have been happy with a point, but in the end we’re disappointed we haven’t been able to win.

“We silenced the crowd in the first half – we had a game plan and we wanted to move the ball from side to side quickly. Our goal today showed that, it was good work all round.

“Sometimes you have to manage the game, and being away from home we did that well – some teams would have conceded and lost.”

Banton is pleased with the start they have made and the new direction under Dermot Drummy.

The former Arsenal and Tottenham player said: “Personally I think the new team has done well, for me it’s good to already know the manager and it’s a good style of football that he’s introduced here.

“We’re already proving people wrong – there’s a way we want to play and we can only get better.”
