Sky Sports and BT Sport in talks to stream Brighton matches for free

Premier League chiefs are in discussions to show matches for free on Sky Sports and BT Sport's YouTube channels.

There are 92 games remaining of of the 2019/20 season and they plan for each be shown on TV, and most are set to be on Sky and BT Sport platforms.

A report in The Times suggested some will also be on Amazon. It remains very unlikely matches will be shown on terrestrial TV, although it is thought the BBC will be able to screen more highlight shows.

47 of the remaining matches were to be shown live, mostly on Sky. The rest was due to divided between BT and Amazon Prime.

The report also stated any move to scrap relegation this season could make lucrative TV contracts invalid. There is little chance of a spectacular climax at the top as Liverpool need just two wins to become champions.

A conclusion without a relegation scrap would render most fixtures fairly meaningless in the grand scheme.

Only two Premier League matches have previously been shown free to air since the league began in 1992. The opening day of the 2013-14 season, Sky screened Manchester United v Swansea City, while BT televised Crystal Palace v Arsenal free of charge.

BT Sport's YouTube channel did however show last season's Champions League final for free and it was viewed by 11 million people.
