Albion led 2-0 after just 12 minutes but Ipswich, who started the day top, fought back to level by the 65th minute. However, Tomer Hemed netted the winner for Brighton just two minutes later.

Brighton wore black arm bands after the tragic deaths of Albion staff member Matt Grimstone and Seagulls fan Jacob Schilt in the Shoreham Airshow crash.

Kazenga LuaLua gave Albion the lead from Gaetan Bong’s chipped pass on ten minutes, before Hemed got a slight touch to Dale Stephens’ free kick two minutes later to make it 2-0.

Chances then came and went at both ends in the remainder of the half, before Stephens was denied by the woodwork at the start of the second half.

Freddie Sears got a goal back for the hosts, before Ipswich were awarded a penalty on 65 minutes when Bruno fouled Ryan Fraser. David McGoldrick made it 2-2 from the spot.

Brighton went back ahead just two minutes later when Hemed glanced home LuaLua’s deflected cross at the near post.
