Burgess Hill Town and Mid Sussex District Council have opened 'a line of communication' to discuss the club's ongoing financial issues.

Last week, Burgess Hill Town chairman Kevin Newell said the club was 'at risk' because there was no support from the council in regards to running costs.

Burgess Hill Town chairman 'disappointed' with council's 'disingenuous' response And the council responded saying they 'cannot afford to help everyone unless they themselves are helped'. And also said: "We have already reached out to the football club following the public statement they issued yesterday but there are obviously still matters that they would like to discuss with us, so we will be contacting them on Monday to arrange further dialogue."

Mid Sussex District Council respond to latest Burgess Hill Town statementAnd today (Monday, April 27) - Kevin Newell said: "I’m pleased to say I’ve had a call from MSDC and we’ve opened a line of communication that will help us with our ongoing issues.

"We have discussed a number of things without any firm resolution at the moment but talks are ongoing. I’ve agreed to provide more detailed financial information and will be continuing the dialogue over the next couple of weeks."
