He said: "I have been pleased with pre-season considering all that has been happening with Covid and the later start dates and social distancing training.

"As you would have seen from social media posts and the club website, we have signed a fair few new faces that will add strength to our squad in all the key areas from defence, midfield and attack.

"We have combined more experienced players with good young players, that should give us a nice balance going forward.

"Some players supporters will recognise them and some of the young lads will be trying to make a good name for themselves."

And Lovett said his side can't wait to get going in the FA Cup. He said: " It feels a while since we have played competitive football, so I know my players and management team are looking forward to getting going on the pitch. I went to watch Holland and Blair's last round v Collierswood in the cup and they are a good side.

"They have some strong players like Danny Kedwell playing for them, so I expect it to be a tough and tricky game.

"They have a good work ethic and we have to match that. They will also have played 3 competitive games before we have played 1. I have an idea of my starting line up, but the advantage I have this season is that, I have players can adapt to different formations and help us play different styles of football, depending on who we are playing."

And like all clubs, the historic competition is important to the Hillians. Lovett said: "Everyone enjoys the FA Cup and would like to get a run going. The prize money does come in handy for the club. The youth team won their game last night and it would be great if we can do the same."
