The Hillians set up a crowdfunder to help ‘Light Up Leylands’ on July 10 - and have smashed their target with 11 days to go.

Rattle said “The response has been amazing, better than we ever could have imagined!

“To reach our target in just over two weeks is a testament of the support from our supporters, local businesses, and the wider football community. We can now to start work with contractors to repair all of the floodlights for not just the coming season, but for many to come.”

But it’s not over yet and people can still get involved to help the club.

Rattle said: “There are still ten days of the campaign left and we have some great rewards available for all budgets.

“Any further donations will help the club make the improvements needed, in line with COVID-19 Government and FA guidelines, to allow football to return safely to the More Than Tyres Stadium.”

The club’s initial target was to raise £10,000 to help repair and renovate the floodlights at the Green Elephants Stadium.
