Early on in the match Burgess Hill were attacking the opposition’s goal. 7 minutes in Neil Watts had a chance after a direct cross in from Joe Keehan. His header crept just wide of the post to deny Burgess Hill the lead.

However they did not have to wait too long. On 25 minutes Lee Harding put Burgess Hill Town ahead with an excellent shot that soared into the top corner. Just 4 minutes later Joe Keehan doubled Burgess Hill’s lead after he had a free shot that came from a Greg Luer corner. Greg Luer then set up another great opportunity when he found Lee Harding in the box who was able to make a shot but Horsham keeper Gareth Williams made a fantastic save down to his left to deny Hill a third.

On the stroke of half time Dan Perry claimed the third goal or Burgess Hill Town after another shot was converted from a corner.

The score stayed 3-0 until half time.

The break did not affect Burgess Hill’s dominant goal scoring frenzy. On 59 minutes Rob O’Toole put an end to his goal drought and converted a Dan Perry cross to make the score an impressive 4-0. Burgess Hill Town started to look more and more in control of the game as the second half went on. The score soon became 5-0 when Burgess Hill made the most of another set piece opportunity. Horsham’s Samir Hadi picked up a second yellow card and was subsequently sent off to add another blow to Horsham’s afternoon. Luer’s free kick that stemmed from this sending off found Rob O’Toole who managed to get the ball to the far post where Joe Keehan was poised and ready to head home the Hillian’s 5th goal of the afternoon.

Ian Chapman made 3 substitutions in 7 minutes replacing Toby Pointing, Joe Keehan and Dan Perry with Sam Fisk, Graham Martin and Callum Saunders. Callum Saunders was quick to get his name on the score sheet when just 15 minutes after coming on he scored from within the 6 yard box after a great Sam Fisk run down the wing.

10 minutes from the end Hill secured their 7th and final goal of the afternoon when Neil Watts put up a long cross to Rob O’Toole who headed the ball to Greg Luer who took two touches and slotted the ball home for a very comfortable 3 points. Burgess Hill Town are now the only team in tiers 1-8 of English Football still unbeaten in the league.
