Nic Tsaroulla and Tom Dallison kept their places in the side while Tom Nichols returned to the starting line-up.

Callum Harriott gave Colchester the lead on 15 minutes with a spectacular effort completely against the balance of play.

But Reds didn't have to wait too long for their deserved equaliser, which came on 21 minutes. Jordan Tunnicliffe got the final touch after a corner.

Both sides had chances in the second half but neither could find the back of the net - with Glenn Morris on fine form with a couple of great saves.

The club tweeted at full-time: "So unlucky not to win it today but a top showing from a top group, most of which playing 90 minutes on Sunday.

Reds travel to Mansfield Town on Saturday.
