The former Bristol Rovers and Brentford striker missed the last few matches of last season and the first four games of pre-season as he continued his rehabiliation following his operation.

Having returned to training last week, Harrold, 32, followed his first substitute appearance of the summer on Saturday against Millwall by playing the first 45 minutes in Tuesday night’s 3-1 victory against Lewes.

Drummy said: “I was very pleased for Matt because he’s a very good target-man.

“He’s good aerially, he did a couple of very good defensive headers as well from set-plays against us, he’s a very strong boy and his touch is good.

“I think with Matt I won’t always be going in behind with him, I’ll be looking for him to come to feet and play and I think he’s got that in his locker and he was one of the first signings we did.”
