He was upbeat looking ahead at Saturday’s clash having overseen victory against Wycombe and taken Championship side Wolves close in the EFL Cup.

Drummy said: “I am very pleased with the performance and pleased and our great spirit in our cup game against Wolves.

“If we’d taken our chances we’d have gone in front. Wolves punished lapses in our defending at the back.”

Drummy is looking forward to taking Reds to South Yorkshire to visit the Keepmoat Stadium.

He said: “A home crowd, an intense occasion in a big, nice stadium, the onus is on the team to continue to attack us.

“In that case I hope that gives us space for our attacking threat.”

Darren Ferguson’s team are looking for their first win of the season having been relegated from League 1.

They began their League 2 campaign with a narrow 3-2 defeat away to Accrington Stanley followed by a 2-1 defeat in the EFL Cup by Championship legends Notts Forest.

Reds’ attacking midfielder Jordan Roberts will undergo a fitness test to see if he has recovered from a bruised toe which caused him to leave the field after just 26 minutes at Wolves on Tuesday night.

New signing Alex Davey, who arrived on loan from Chelsea on Thursday, could make his debut in central defence due to the suspension of Mark Connolly following his sending-off at Wolves for receiving a second yellow card.

Drummy said: “Alex is in contention to be in the squad.”
