This follows his recruitment late last Thursday of midfielder Anthony Wordsworth on loan from Championship club Ipswich Town.

Goalkeeper Lewis Price was brought back for his second loan spell from Crystal Palace following Brian Jensen’s dislocated finger suffered against MK Dons.

Wordsworth and Price went straight into the side which lost 4-1 at Rochdale alongside new central defender Darren Ward, who arrived the previous week from Swindon Town.

On Tuesday Reds are on the road again when they take on Derbyshire club Chesterfield.

Saunders said: “I am trying for another player for Fleetwood and we have a new goalkeeper, midfielder and defender.

“We nearly got to 2-2 with five minutes to go which would have been a good result.

“We have a good group and good spirit and are looking to get something from the game.”
