FA CUP: Jamie Cook ‘Being left out inspired me’

JAMIE Cook says his anger at being left out of the starting XI for the biggest match of his life inspired him to be one of the stars of Crawley’s second half display at Old Trafford last night.

The striker was introduced early in the second half and had an impact down the right, where he sent in a couple of teasing crosses, and he believes Richard Brodie ‘did everything right’ with his late header which hit the bar.

Cook remarked: “It was an amazing experience, the performance, the atmosphere, everything was amazing.

“I was angry not to start if I was honest, I won’t lie.

“But it was nice to come on have half an hour and do alright, it was brilliant.

“Brodie’s header kind of went in slow motion, unfortunately it was one of those days when it didn’t go in.”
