FA CUP: Torres pays tribute to boisterous support

SERGIO Torres paid tribute to the boisterous travelling support of 9,000 Crawley fans who outsung the home faithful at Old Trafford last night, what what he called the best day of his life.

The Reds midfielder had his father Rahoul and girlfriend Lena in the crowd, which produced a wall of noise from the away end, while his sister and mother watched live on TV back home in Argentina.

Torres said: “The fans were unbelievable, so noisy. They should be proud of us, we put 150 percent effort in.

“It was the best day of my life so far. The goal I scored against Derby was the highlight, but this topped it off.”

And the former Peterborough ace relished the chance to tussle with Wayne Rooney after the England man came on in a withdrawn role in the second half.

“We are a bit disappointed and I cannot believe I am saying that. I thought we pushed them and deserved something.

“Playing against Rooney was unbelievable, one of the best players in the world, and I even had the chance to get stuck into him.”
