John Gregory hints at quitting Crawley Town
Crawley Town manager John Gregory could quit his job following another inconsistent display on Saturday.
A pattern has developed in the last few games of starting slowly and falling behind before mounting better displays in the second half.
But the problem seems to be playing a good 90 minutes of decent football rather than for just half the game.
Gregory surprised the press after their 1-1 draw with bottom placed Crewe by suggesting the patchy form could be his fault and that he might leave the job just a year after taking over from Richie Barker.
He said: “I am totally depressed because I want a winning team. You saw in the second half we have the ability to win matches but why are we not getting it more often?
“I need to get more consistent performances out of my players and it might well be me so I need to look at myself in that respect.
“I have to think what is the right thing to do for everybody. I need to go away and think about the next few days.
“I want it to be better than this and I want us to be winning matches and I can’t handle the inability to win matches that you should.
“If my players play to their best every week we should threaten the top six and at the moment I am getting too many inconsistent performances and I’ll have to look at myself.
“I have to look at myself and think is it me?
“I’ll have to take a long hard look at myself in what I am doing in my particular job at the moment and I am not getting as much as I should from these players.”
