But he admitted having to stay on the bench would have made his blood boil in his younger days.

Morgan said: “I’ve been here since early January and I’ve been knocking on Dean Saunders’ door every other week, but the team has been winning or drawing and grinding out results and it’s been hard for me to stake a claim for a place in the team.

“We knew what they were going to come and do. The gaffer is out here working on things for hours but it works.

“I told the gaffer I could do a good job for the team if given a chance.

“I believe I’ve done well before when I’ve come on and changed the game and I believe I could do the same when starting.

“It has been frustrating but all I can do is do what I did today and hopefully score a few goals to help us keep up.

“Izale does nothing for 90 minutes but scores two goals but he could be the reason we stay up because of his goals. Hopefully, I can get a few and catch him up!”

Morgan revealed a deal to play in Thailand fell through leaving him without a Football League club.

He said: “I was meant to be playing in Thailand and I went there for three weeks but it all fell through and I came back two weeks before the season started.

“I came home and just wanted to play so I joined Woking in the Conference under Garry Hill with an agreement that if anyone came in for me from a higher club or abroad he wouldn’t stand in my way.

“When he was at Wrexham I was at MK Dons and he gave me a call then but it was a bit too far for me to go.

“Dean has always liked me as a player and this time when he came in for me it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.”

Morgan has the distinction of being an international for Montserrat and has been made captain of the team.

He revealed: “Montserrat is such a small country between 5,000-8,000 who live on the island and is my gran and grandad’s birthplace so playing for them is a good opportunity to play abroad.”
