Smith: We’ve got to see games out

Reds midfielder Jimmy Smith revealed his fantastic goal from outside the area at 2-2 ‘meant nothing’ after Crawley conceded two late goals.

He said: “We went 2-0 down, worked really hard to get to 2-2. If you do that to get back into it you’ve got to see games out and be clever with our play.

“It would have been great to get the equaliser and earn the point for the lads but we didn’t and the goal means nothing now.”

Smith revealed Mark Yates went ‘mental’ after Reds had failed to stop Bira Dembele scoring two headed goals despite having identified him as a threat beforehand.

“This week we’ll be watching videos, watching our mistakes as a team defensively so can get clean sheets into our game.

“We don’t want to concede a goal to get a reaction, we don’t want to be a team like that and I’m sure the fans don’t want to see that.

“We always try to set the tempo at the start of the game. You’ve got to keep doing it. We want to go 1-0, 2-0 and leanr to see games out.”
