Thirteen years since his historic goal against Swansea City, Lewis Taylor is set to pull on the Horsham shirt once again after agreeing to rejoin the club from Dorking.

Horsham FC's website reveled: "The midfield powerhouse should need no introduction for Hornets supporters but, for the benefit of our our newer fans, Lewis first joined the club in 2006 from Whyteleafe, having been on the books of Fulham and AFC Wimbledon as a youngster, and went on to score 22 goals in 91 appearances before returning to the Dons and helping them reach the Conference National en route to the Football League.

"Lewis has also played for Margate, Carshalton Athletic, Bromley, Kingstonian and Whitehawk, as well as loan spells at East Grinstead Town and Horsham YMCA, and scored the goals that earned both Tonbridge Angels and Dorking Wanderers promotion to the National League.

"The 34-year-old is expected to fill the void left by Lea Dawson, after the former Cray captain returned to another of his old clubs, VCD Athletic, this week. Lea enjoyed an impressive debut season for the Hornets, scoring four times in 37 games before the campaign was prematurely brought to a close, and we thank him for his service."

Also joining the Hornets is Dorking skipper David Ray - who will be a player-coach.

“Razor” is a vastly experienced defender who made over 300 appearances for Basingstoke Town, including three seasons playing in Conference South, and has also turned out for Bognor Regis Town, Farnborough Town and Carshalton Athletic. He has spent the last three seasons at Dorking and led them to the Isthmian League Premier Division title in 2019 and their subsequent promotion to the National League South where they reached the play-off semi-finals last month.

“He’s coming in as a player-coach,” di Paola told the Horsham website. “He’s going to be involved with the management team with a view of being in the squad as well.

"He’s really good, his pedigree and the career he’s had is great. He captained Dorking when they won it a year ago, he’s a really knowledgeable, experienced player that will help some of our players with their football. It’s another experienced lad to add to the group and I’m hoping he’ll bring some professionalism and that winning mentality that he’s got. As part of the management team, I think he’s going to be a good asset for us.”
