Drummy praises Collins for scoring first ever Crawley goal

Crawley Town head coach Dermot Drummy praised his side for '˜defending admirably' to come away with a 1-1 draw at Doncaster.

James Collins gave Reds the lead with his first goal for the club with a 26th minute tap-in but this was cancelled out by James Coppinger’s 49th minute equaliser.

Crawley boss Dermot Drummy said he was proud of his players.

Drummy said: “Teams will come to Doncaster and have a tough time. They’re good at what they do.

“I thought we defended admirably.

“We got done on the corner but, other than that, credit to the boys in terms of hanging in there and keeping that mentality to get a great away point.

“We played some quality combination plays to get in behind them and then they then changed it and that stifled us a bit.

“We’ve had a tough week and energy levels dipped a bit but you can’t buy the mentality that we have. I’m proud of the boys.

“James Collins got our goal and he works hard for the team. He’s a goalscorer. If he gets one chance he’ll score. That’s his job.”
