Eastbourne United boss Hutchinson: '˜It wasn't pretty but I felt we were never going to lose it'

Eastbourne United AFC boss Tobi Hutchinson was pleased after his side made it four league wins on the bounce with a 6-0 win over bottom-placed St Francis Rangers.

Liam Baitup hit a second half hat-trick as United continued their good form.

But Hutchinson knew they still had to do a professional job against a side who have yet to register a point this season.

He said after the game: “It always a tricky situation for everyone because you know the county’s eyes are watching everything they do.

“So for us it was a case of us just wanting to come and get the job done and get three points.

“I told the team it was the not the same team you played before or who everyone else has been playing.

“It’s not the same team who have conceded 176 goals. It’s a case now of a clean slate, do the job, get three points and go home. And that’s what we did.”

And Hutchinson appreciated it wasn’t a great spectacle.

“It wasn’t pretty but I never felt we were going to lose it.”

But Hutchinson fears for St Francis Rangers and wonders where they go from here with new manager Joe Monks.

“They had one or two individuals who you could tell would be lively on an academy pitch with good players around them but at this level and on these pitches those youngsters are going to be hung out to dry. I feel for them.

“Not quite sure what the for idea is for the club, where the longevity is and what they are gaining from it. I think they were better off where they were with the young local lads, they may have been getting beat but they are still getting beat. It’s an odd one. I don’t know what the agenda for the manager is to be honest.”
